Shannen Doherty is preparing for the worst. Since 2015, the 52-year-old actress has been battling breast cancer, which has metastasized to her brain and bones since last year. To consider all the possibilities, she decided to sell the majority of her possessions, “just in case,” she explains in her podcast Let’s Be Clear, broadcast at the beginning of April. The goal is not to leave nothing behind but rather to help those close to you as best you can, by preparing them for your death.

“My priority right now is my mother. I know it will be hard for her if I die before her, confides Shannen Doherty. I don’t want her to have a lot to deal with.” The star of the series Beverly Hills is preparing for the worst but has not given up and continues to fight. At the end of January, she had brain surgery to “remove a tumor”.

On her podcast, she told her listeners that after “the sixth or seventh treatment, we [Shannen Doherty and the doctors] really saw that the blood-brain barrier was destroyed.” A small but significant victory for the actress who will celebrate her 53rd birthday on April 12.

The money raised from the sale of his belongings will allow him to take “more trips” with his loved ones. “I can take my mother on vacation because I have extra money,” says Shannen Doherty. And I don’t want to dip into the money from my estate that will be used by my loved ones once I’m dead.”

The illness will not stop her from traveling but has already forced her to put aside one of her biggest dreams: restoring a house she owns in Tennessee, the goal being to take in abandoned horses. If she sees herself needing to abandon this project, she hopes to experience it through her friends and loved ones, ready, she confides, to “help people who are more capable of carrying it out.”
