Sint-Genesius-Rode “Stop with the discussions about how dangerous an Aixam. Continue with life and have fun with you. Please don, continue to live for her.” The father of June Michiels (15), one of the fatal victims of the accident with the brommobiel in Sint-Genesius-Rode, took to a packed church in Lasne farewell of his daughter Wednesday morning.

The church of the parish of Saint-Etienne-Ohain-Lasne (Walloon Brabant) was much too small for the hundreds of family members and friends who Wednesday said goodbye to June. The teenage girl sat next to Alix Koerperich (18) in the brommobiel that Friday night, crashed on the boulevard de waterloo, Sint-Genesius-Rode. Also Alicia did not survive the accident. The two other occupants were injured.

The hearse with the white coffin of June on board was under police escort to the church. Outside followed dozens of people, the service on large screens. In front was a large black-and-white photograph of June and on the chest were two hearts full of flowers laid.

I love you

The family of June took the word. The father of the girl told me in tears what his daughter meant to him. “One day I got a phone call from your mother, when I was in Nice was sitting with the man who later you dooppeter would be”, he said. “They wanted me absolutely to speak and in the plane, I heard that mom was pregnant. You surprised us by your coming and you are always our surprise. Now you leave unexpectedly. Know that you are a ray of sunshine, was full of happiness and surprises. I don’t know what I think of this fate. You were there at a bad moment, a bad place, under bad conditions. It was written in the stars? I don’t know. I love you. I hope that June in your memories, continues to live and especially to the positive things and not because of the accident. Continue life and keep you amused. Stop that discussions about how dangerous an Aixam. Please, live on for her.”

Ambulances

Also the sister of June and a girlfriend names have the word on the ceremony. “It hurts to realize that you never will be”, told her friend. “For us, this loss is completely unexpected. But you will forever be in our hearts go on living.”

The two girls that the accident survived, attended the farewell. They were with ambulances transferred to the church. Sunday afternoons they lived as well as all the silent procession in which the family of the victims organized in Sint-Genesius-Rode. Among the attendees were also many members of the Waterloo Ducks Hockey Club (June hockey played. A lot of people were difficult and had to overcome by emotion to leave the church.
