40,256 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday, twelve percent more than a week earlier.
The 7-day incidence rises to 214.
It is still higher in 12 of the 16 federal states than a week earlier.
Yesterday, the number of free intensive care beds fell below 2,000 for the first time since the daily surveys by the Divi intensive care register began.
Exactly 1942 operable intensive care beds were still available.
For comparison: Up to and including September, the number of free intensive care beds in Germany in 2022 was mostly around 3,000.
With the new daily value, a critical mark is undercut for the first time:
9.5 percent of the intensive care beds are currently free.
In the opinion of the RKI, however, it is important for the “responsiveness” of the healthcare system that the proportion remains at more than ten percent.
Several federal states are currently below this threshold, with Hamburg joining Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt yesterday.
Unlike in autumn 2021, Corona is not the decisive factor for the tense situation in the intensive care units.
With 989 Covid-19 cases, occupancy is currently 80 percent below the level reached at this time a year ago.
However, the number of admissions of corona patients to intensive care units is currently increasing again.
