Two years later, the CDU politician was elected Federal President, but resigned from the office in 2012. The couple separated in 2013, but then got back together. In 2015 they got married in a church. Another separation followed in October 2018, followed by a divorce in 2020.
Now, three years later, the Wulffs are said to have remarried. The now 49-year-old and the 63-year-old lawyer had been a couple for a long time.

A request from WELT to the office of the ex-Federal President is still open.
