12 cars. So many copies of the little Fiesta model, Ford in average sold in Denmark every day between 1. January and 28. February of this year.

Although it is a piece from the most widely sold models of car, so it has made the Fiesta to the u.s. automobile manufacturer’s most popular model at home. And now the car on the green wave. Or at least ride with a bit of the way.

Ford has decided to install the mild hybrid technology in both the Fiesta as the Focus, which is the manufacturer’s second most selling model in Denmark. The green upgrade will concretely consist of a new startergenerator, who also serves as the electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery at 48 volts.

It confirms Ford in a press release.

The new hybridudgaver of the Fiesta and the Focus, according to Ford be launched next year. The manufacturer is planning to show them off for the first time in the next week, but until then it is small with detailed information about the cars.

Ford mentions, for example, nothing about what hybridteknologien means for vehicle fuel consumption – in addition to it being ‘optimized’. A car with mild hybrid technology requires, as the name suggests, much less of the driver than, for example, a pluginhybridbil: A petrol engine, it still accounts for the bulk of the workload, and the car to charge the battery while driving.

One should not think of finding an electrical outlet to the car, each time the ride is over. This in turn has the downside that the yield of the electric motor is not as large as in a pluginhybrid.

According to Ford, the combination of the electrical forces give ‘a more powerful and responsive performance when accelerating in the car. And at the subsequent braking will the hybrid system so that capture braking energy and use it to charge the battery up again.

the Engine, which must work together with the new startergenerator, is the same gasoline engine of 1.0 liters, which is available today. It will, however, in hybridudgaven be equipped with a larger turbocharger, the promise of Ford.

When the two hybrid vehicles being launched, they will join the slightly larger Mondeo Hybrid, which currently is the only ‘green alternative’ among the manufacturer’s passenger cars. Ford has, however, long-term goal to offer at least one version of the electrical forces of every model of car, you have sent on the market since the Focus came to last year.
