“Grågåsens poop a seed to the green life”
“Grågåsen identified in new research out like a flying såmaskin for Swedish skärgårdsöar. The species moves frequently and far, and with her feces then the seeds from the plants from one island to another, reports the P4 Gotland.”
“There is a researcher at Karlstad university, which has looked into the bird’s poop from 45 different skärgårdsöar.”
“– And then we could see that there were 97 different plant species seeds that germinated, ” says Lutz Eckstein, professor of biology at Karlstad university, to the radio.”
“But the bird species in question can not replace the contribution to biodiversity that the fewer the warm months.”
“– There are big differences in what they eat and how they graze. Why would the spread of other species than grågåsen, ” says Lutz Eckstein to P4 Gotland.”
