It was not just one, but two times the high chimney on the Island should knaldes before it finally fell to the ground.

– It has been a special and challenging task, because it is happening on the Island. It has meant a lot of red tape and myndighedsræs. And so it should, at the same time, both burst in the middle and at the bottom, where you normally just blowing stuff at the bottom, tells Mikkel Lerdrup, there is sprængningsleder for the Danish Sprængnings Service.

The 64 meter high chimney got its first burst in approx. 35 m in height and the other blasting at the skorstenens foot. Both shots consisted of 20 individual charges on the good 140 grams of explosives, and with relatively short time between the top and bottom.

the Firing was made at the weekend a little north of Reykavik.

– the Field must be cleared, so that can be built housing, and it is for this reason that we are tipping over the chimney, says Mikkel Lerdrup.
