Czech Karolína Plísková is on to the semifinals at the Australian Open after a win over tennisstjernen Serena Williams.

The two met each other early on Wednesday morning, Danish time, and it was something of a horror story. Plísková could ultimately take the victory home and advance with the digits 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

Williams had in the third and last set no less than four matchbolde, but Plísková held on and fought back from to have been falling behind 1-5.

It was particularly syvendeseedede Plískovás serv, which made it difficult for Williams in the decisive set on the main plant Rod Laver Arena.

The 37-year-old american, who is seeded as number 16, did not participate in last year’s tournament in Melbourne, but has won the Australian Open seven times. The last was in 2017.

by comparison, the 26-year-old Karolína Plísková yet to win a grand slam tournament.

In the semifinals to Plísková meeting japanese Naomi Osaka, who without difficulty got defeated ukraineren Elina Svitolina a few hours before.

Fjerdeseedede Osaka made short process and won with the digits 6-4, 6-1.

Japaneren had the whole fight through, over, and with his aggressive style of play she kept Svitolina from getting into the fight. Especially her serve was crucial, and it was for all eight private bathroom.

The 21-year-old Osaka’s first semi-final in Melbourne since turneringsdebuten in 2016.
