Texas, a mythical pop rock group from the 1990s, releases its Very Best Of. In this album, we find Scottish hits, other lesser-known songs, but also two unreleased tracks. In 35 years of career, Sharleen Spireti’s group has sold no less than 40 million records.
“When we look at the public in front of whom we play today, we see that they were 5 or 6 years old when we started. They listened to Texas on the radio, despite themselves, in the car on their way to school, ”says Sharleen Spiteri at the microphone of BFM. With this fifth best-of, on which we find the classics I Don’t Want A Lover, Summer Son, Say What You Want or Inner Smile, the group wanted to create an anthology that looks like it. “I think it’s still relevant because we’re trying to attract a new audience. Some kids don’t want to bother creating a playlist on Spotify, so we’ll create it for them!”, explained the Scottish artist to Purecharts media.
In The Very Best Of 1989 – 2023, Texas added two unreleased tracks: After all and Keep on talking. “Those two songs really represent what Texas is all about. It’s a band that can make you sing but also dance and feel the song in a very romantic way,” Sharleen Spiteri explained to Purecharts. After All is more rock, while Keep on talking reveals more soulful accents.
Texas will take the stage at Britain’s Glastonbury festival on June 23. The opportunity for the group to “play in front of thousands of people who are not necessarily Texas fans, but who nevertheless know our songs.” In addition, it is rumored, in the middle, that Texas is preparing a new studio album which will be released next year.
