In Turkey have been sentenced 15 of the accused because of their involvement in corruption investigations against the environment of the current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met life-long imprisonment.

A court in Istanbul found four former police chiefs and eleven other defendants because of the investigation in December 2013, an “attempt to overthrow the Turkish government,” guilty, as the official news Agency reported the Anadolu.

Several other defendants received long prison sentences because of “membership in an armed terrorist organization” and “illegal wiretapping”. A total of 67 people were charged, six of them in absentia.

The Prosecutor’s office had initiated in December 2013 on the basis of wiretapped phone conversations in corruption investigations against politicians and business people from the environment of the then Prime Minister Erdogan.

The investigation, Erdogan is in serious distress and forced three Ministers to resign. After a few days, Erdogan forced the setting of the investigation, and thousands of state had put lawyers and police officers. According to Erdogan, the investigations were a coup attempt by the followers of the Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, he also makes for the coup attempt of July 2016 responsible. (nag/sda)
