After nearly three decades of state of Kazakhstan authoritarian ruling President Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced surprisingly its resignation. The 78-Year-old head of state of the Central Asian country, announced his resignation on Tuesday in a televised address. Nazarbayev held Kazakhstan’s highest state office since the independence of the former Soviet Republic in 1991. Prior to that, he was there already, KP-Chef.

“I made the decision, my mandate as President, to resign”, – said Nazarbayev in the speech. In the Soviet Union, Nazarbayev was an influential politician. After several regional Offices, he was promoted in 1989 to head the Communist party of the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan. As Kazakhstan in 1990, began to distance themselves from the Central government in Moscow, took over Nazarbayev, the office of the President in the newly founded state of Kazakhstan. In total, he has ruled the Kazakhs, more than thirty years.

Kazakhstan is a close ally of Russia and has the largest Russian Diaspora of the five Central Asian States, declared in 1991 its independence. Russian is in addition to Kazakh, until today, the official language.
