With a goal gala, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp has forgotten the mixed start to the season in the Premier League. The Reds demolished promoted AFC Bournemouth 9-0 (5-0) and had the outstanding player of the game in Roberto Firmino. Thanks to their first win of the season, the German coach’s team is in the middle of the table with five points.
Former Hoffenheim’s Firmino was the man of the day. The Brazilian set up goals from Luis Diaz (3rd minute), Harvey Elliott (6th) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (28th) and scored two goals himself (31st/62nd). Virgil van Dijk (45th), Chris Mepham (46th / own goal), Fábio Carvalho (80th) and again Diaz (85th) made the victory perfect.
After two draws at the start of the season and the subsequent defeat against Manchester United, Klopp appealed to his players’ honor before the game.
“Anfield has to rock there, we have to ignite the fire. We will try absolutely everything that the Liverpool fans expect of us. We will fight for our lives,” Klopp demanded before the game against Bournemouth. His players followed the request.
