Miroslav Klose Appointed as Head Coach of 1. FC Nürnberg in Germany

Miroslav Klose has landed his first job as a head coach in Germany. The 46-year-old former international has been appointed as the successor to Cristian Fiel, who has moved to Hertha BSC, at 1. FC Nürnberg.

Klose previously served as an assistant coach for the German national team and his former club Bayern Munich before venturing out on his own in Austria two years ago. The all-time leading scorer for Die Mannschaft spent nine months as the coach of SCR Altach before being dismissed following a series of nine winless matches.

After his departure, Klose’s name was linked to several clubs, including Lazio in Italy. Ultimately, it is Nürnberg that has given the former star striker an opportunity. To the surprise of the German media, Klose has signed a two-year contract with the Second Bundesliga club, which was relegated to the second division in 2019.

This move comes as no surprise to technical director Panagiotis Chatzialexiou, who worked for the German Football Association (DFB) for twenty years in various roles before his recent appointment at Nürnberg. Chatzialexiou stated, “We are on the same wavelength and think alike about football.” He believes that Klose is the right person to lead Der Club back to success.

Chatzialexiou praised Klose’s meticulous coaching style and attention to detail, citing his experience as both a player and a coach as key factors for success.
