Nearly a hundred painters will take part in Saturday’s fifth International Fast Painting Contest of La Zubia organized by the departments of Culture and Tourism of La Zubian City Council, Caja Rural and Provincial Council of Granada.
The artists will create a series of images that capture some of the most important places, monuments, and landscapes in La Zubia. Their works can also be seen at the Parque De la Encina in an open-air exhibit.
Rosa Gamero (Councilor for Culture of the Metropolitan City Council) points out that the winners of the general category will receive three prizes of 2,000, 1000, and 600 euros. This includes all techniques, except watercolor.
The Councilor for Culture explains that there will be a special watercolor prize valued at 2,000 Euros, named after our neighbor Jose Galan Polaino who is a well-known watercolorist. There will also be another prize worth 500 euros for the best local artist in any technique.
Saturday morning will see the tenth Children’s and Youth Drawing Contest, organized by Al Borde de lo Inconcebible. It is open to boys and girls aged 4-15 years.
