Karl Lauterbach was always quick to hand when he called for his resignation from ministers and fellow scientists. During the plagiarism affair of ex-defense minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, Lauterbach said: “If the minister is a notorious swindler and even imposture cannot be ruled out, then that is not a minister for us.”
About his Swedish colleague Anders Tegnell, who has led his country through the pandemic more successfully than Lauterbach, he tweeted, “amazing that he is still in office. No one would have accused him of an honorable resignation.” Mind you, Tegnell was not guilty of anything.
