Merchtem The 11-year-old Len Van Audenhove received Thursday afternoon a medal for heroism pinned by Merchtems mayor Maarten Mast. Len saved last week his best friend Milan from a sure death when that is choked in a piece of carrot.

The incident happened on Wednesday, march 13, on the playground of the local primary school At Forest in Peizegem. Milan Verhaeghen was a rootlet to the oppeuzelen when his friend Len noticed that there was something loos. While the bell rang, he noticed that Milan could no longer speak. He could not even breathe. As an accomplished spoedarts grip S his friend in the back, punched the arms about his abdomen, and noticed after three times of pushing the piece of carrot into the air, flew.

The heroic deed of Len took the news columns and the mother of Milan was so happy that she S personally congratulated. Thursday was also a delegation from the municipality to the local school to S to honor.

“What this boy has done is very exceptional,” says mayor Maarten Mast. “In Merchtem, we give a medal for a heroic deed. But in this case it is about celebrating more than justified.”

Modest

The lord mayor and aldermen stepped in the class of Len to the guy personally to congratulate. Len responded very modest and a bit shy. “I had a bit of a stress when the mayor there suddenly stood,” said the boy. “But anyway, I’m very happy with my medal. That will definitely get a special place in my room.”
