Gent To the Phoenixbrug has an armed robber Friday around 14: 30, tried a pharmacy and a clothes shop to come in. In the pharmacy he had no loot to drip and in the clothes shop he was stopped by the operator and passers-by until the police came. “When I saw that he my woman on the floor had rolled, I asked him once grasped.”

The robber went inside the pharmacy Spiers in the Noordstraat. “He said only that he wanted,” says pharmacist Betty Spiers. “He lifted his sweater and showed the gun in his pants was. I said ‘no’, but he kept on insisting. I stepped towards the door to open for him to do, and to say that he had to leave, but he grabbed me by my shoulders. He shook me by and asked again money. I explained that the ticket office does not open unless there is a purchase happening. I did the door open for him and he is on his bike jumped, the direction of the Phoenixstraat.”

Not enough money

Betty is shocked, but won’t let himself do. “A man must already work so hard to make a little money, then I’m still not just to issue sure? It was already the second time that I was a robber on the floor was, and also when I have no money. A few years ago, someone with a weapon on my face, this time kept the gun in his pants. The first robbery was worse than the second. I’ve already obtained,” she says.

The robber cycled over the Phoenixbrug and came there with his second victim. Boutique Jolly he pulled out his gun, however, above. “He waved with his weapon to my wife, who is the box office open before,” says Frans Moerman. Together with his wife baat he the clothes shop. He was at the back of the house when the robber within burst. “He fumbled in the drawer, but there was not enough money for him.”

Startled

French came to the shop when he cries, heard. “I saw that he my woman had. He threw her against a cupboard and she fell to the ground. I have not thought and have him immediately a few strokes. I have the door done and get him thrown out. There have a few passers-by to help him stop it,” says French. “The police were here fast, they were probably already on the way by the first assault.”

The wife of the French was taken to the hospital. “I do not know well how it is now with her, but she was especially hard, startled. She was not seriously injured,” says French.

The robber was meanwhile arrested. “The suspect, a 30-year-old man, at the instigation of the public prosecutor be brought before the examining magistrate in Ghent”, it sounds to the public prosecutor of East-Flanders. “There is examined whether he is involved in other recent facts in Ghent.”

It is the third robbery in two weeks time in Ghent, after the pharmacy on the Geldmunt and the Delhaize on the Brugsesteenweg in Mariakerke. It would be for the same man can go, because here was the culprit, just as at Delhaize, with the bike on the road.
