Istanbul In Turkey is Friday the massaverhuis from the old to the new airport started. Hundreds of trucks with material used at the airport, are on the go from Ataturk International Airport to 40 km away, new airport, Istanbul Airport.
The operation started Friday morning at 3.30 am local time. They would be about 45 hours, writes the Turkish press agency Anadolu. All together, about 700 trucks, 50,000 tons of material to move. At the surgery are also 1,800 employees involved.
Separately, going to Turkish Airlines, in its turn, 280 devices move from the old to the new airport. That last one is already a few months operational, but it is only for a limited number of flights used.
From Saturday, 2 o’clock in the morning the air traffic at both airports for twelve hours without recharging. Three motorways will be from Friday for a few hours to a whole day to be closed. From Saturday midnight, the major international air carriers than use of the new airport, Istanbul Airport, which is located in the European part of Turkey.
Istanbul Airport was in October last year was inaugurated by president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The intention was that they by the end of 2018 fully operational, but there were several times postponement, inter alia, by protests from workers about unsafe working conditions.
The new airport will in the long term the busiest in the world, with an eventual capacity of 200 million passengers per year. Currently, that title to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the U.S., with a capacity of just 104 million passengers per year. Istanbul also has a second international airport (Sahiba Gokcen Airport), in the Asian part of the city.
