Mercedes-Benz has launched a recall of two models including the GLE and GLS. More than 468,000 cars are being recalled worldwide because of a known problem with the attachment of the trim strip to the window ledge of the rear doors. Among other things, the “Focus” reported on this.

According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), 29,730 GLE and GLS SUVs (167 series) are affected in Germany with the campaign code “7490001”. They were built between May 2019 and April 2022. The cars are brought to authorized workshops who inspect the trim and extend the attachment if necessary. According to a company spokesman, this takes a maximum of half an hour.

Another 795 SL roadsters (232 series) are also being recalled, of which only 292 are in Germany. They have the identifier “6590006”. The roof frame trim above the windshield may have been insufficiently attached to the vehicle at the factory between June 2021 and June 2022, a spokesman said. “As a precautionary measure, the Mercedes-Benz service organization will inject an additional adhesive into the roof frame area of the affected vehicles.”
