Showbiz Miss World is over for this year, but this weekend is the election of Miss Universe. Who the crown will get, it is not yet clear, but the chance that the U.s. candidate wins, the past few days a lot has become smaller. Sarah Rose Summers is currently being filleted on Twitter after a remark about another contestant.
In an official promo video was Sarah Rose is still full of praise about her Cambodian colleague. “I Miss Cambodia met and she is simply gorgeous!”, it sounded elated. In an Instagram Live with Miss Colombia and Miss Australia was, however, quite different. “Miss Cambodia is here and she speaks no word of English. And no other person speaks her language,” says Summers. “Can you imagine that? That must be insulating, and so confusing.” Later, it was also the language of Miss Vietnam put to the test. “Sometimes smiles they are just like you at her talk and she replies not. I think that they do not understand.”

The trio – and especially Miss USA came after the ruling has come under heavy fire on social media. They were accused of bullying and there was demanded that they be disqualified. Especially the fact that Summers said that she “felt pity for because Miss Cambodia don’t speak English”, shot at many people going down the wrong way. “How stupid and unworldly”, sounded it several times. Many also find it quite racist.

Absolutely enraged that Miss USA, Miss Australia and Miss Colombia made fun of Miss Cambodia and Miss Vietnam for not being able to speak fluent English, TRASH.

@MissUniverse i wonder if you will still allow Miss USA, Columbia, and Australia to continue in the competition after their racist/ bigoted remarks toward fellow contestant Miss Cambodia. I can’t believe these ladies will be repersenting their countries!

Troy Barbagallo, director of the Pink Tank Events – the organization that this years Miss Universe organizes – is bored with the case. He has, meanwhile, with the girls in question are spoken, and stressed that there is no bullying or racism. “Accusations of bullying are unfounded, and we can almost speak of bullying against Miss USA now”, he reports. “The statements are completely out of context drawn; the girls were just chatting, and their sympathy for Miss Cambodia to the express. She is the only person whose language no one else spoke. They have her in the meantime also again met and she takes them nothing to excuse.”
