After the death of a girl on the fringes of a chase by suspected criminals, the British police have asked the public and the criminal milieu for information on the perpetrator. Anyone who knows those responsible should not remain silent, said Chief Inspector Mark Kameen of the Liverpool police on Wednesday.

The mother of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel opened her front door on Monday evening after hearing noise on the street. A 35-year-old man, followed by an armed man, then forced his way into the house. When the pursuer fired, little Olivia was fatally shot in the chest.

The pursued 35-year-old, who was also injured in the incident and is in hospital, was arrested for violating his probation conditions and is now to be questioned. He had been taken to the hospital by his friends; they left the little girl lying there.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called it an “unimaginable tragedy” on Twitter on Tuesday.
