Again and again receive politicians threats or being subjected to harassment or sometimes outright violence.

president of the Danish parliament, Pia Kjærsgaard (DF), believes that the threats against politicians has escalated, and she fears that it will be worse when the election campaign kicks off.

– Now we must out and fight each in order to get the most possible votes to our party and to defend our positions. It becomes very political subject.

– But therefore I also think that there will be more confrontations. And I think it is very sad that every day we must experience the politicians that have been out for more or less serious outcome – whether it is directly or on social media, she says.

In may of last year were the penalties for threats and harassment against public officials and politicians increased. It meant that the punishment in cases of harassment or threats against politicians in the public service was raised by one-third.

Pia Kjærsgaard thinks that it is a discussion worth, if you again need to increase the penalties for threats against politicians.

– It may well be that one should do it. It is certainly a discussion worth. It must be stopped, for it is a danger to democracy. I can think of, whether it will deter people from standing for political office. You know it is hard, she says.

In Wednesday’s edition of the Berlingske tidende, says a number of politicians about the threats and harassment.

Among other things, tells Kenneth Kristensen Berth from the Danish people’s Party, about an incident where he was surrounded by pupils, who beat, kicked and spat on him after a debate.

And The People’s Zenia Stampe was after his young daughter’s death a message, which said that the person could understand that her daughter had chosen the emergency exit, when she found out that it was Zenia Stampe, who was her mother.
