Punksångare dead after suspected heart attack
Pete Shelley, the lead singer of punkrockbandet Buzzcocks, has died.
He died after a suspected heart attack, writes the BBC.
Peter Campbell McNeish, best known as Pete Shelley) was a british singer, songwriter and guitarist, and frontman of the punkrockbandet Buzzcocks.
the Band’s management confirms Shelley’s death for the BBC and says that the singer passed away on Thursday in Estonia, where he was a resident.
He should have died as a result of a suspected heart attack, reports the BBC on.
the Band honors Pete Shelley’s memory on Twitter, writing, among other things, that he was ”one of the Uk’s most influential and profilic songwriter and co-founder of the seminal punk band Buzzcocks”.
the Buzzcocks formed in the late 1970s by Pete Shelley and singer-songwriter Howard Devoto. The band debuted in Manchester in 1976, as an opening act for the Sex Pistols. The group’s most famous song is ”Ever fallen in love (with someone you shouldn’t’ve)”, written in 1978. Music magazine NME ranked the song as number 17 on its list of the ”100 greatest singles of all time” in 2002.
Punkrockbandet disbanded in 1981, but reunited in 1989 and is considered influential in its genre.
According to the Buzzcocks website would be the band playing in Arnhem in the Netherlands on 14 december.
Pete Shelley was 63 years.
