the Comedian Magnus Millang (known from the bl.a. ‘Danish Dynamite’) lost four years ago his alcoholic father, after this had been on a covered drinking spree in Spain.

The tragic episode has been the source of inspiration for the black comedy ‘Selvhenter’, which Millang although both have directed, written and plays one key role in. The second important role is played by Magnus’ own brother, Emil Millang.

Free fantasy, however, there is luckily also plenty of space in the ‘Selvhenter’

We meet the highly self-indulgent Magnus in the process of selling an idea for a commercial, however, shot down for his aged views on women, according to which Magnus responds: ‘I think that your mandesyn shown could very well need some dick’. So is the level just as posted.

Shortly after the meetings, and Magnus his brother, Emil, who tells their father – which they have not had contact with for a long time – is dead of binge drinking in Spain.

It is Magnus in a first time right cold, until he comes at the thought of his father’s expensive Rolex watch, which might stop his economic styrtblødning for a while. So he agrees to take down and retrieve his father’s corpse in Spain.

It pains broderpar – there virtually are strangers to each other – draw against the southern sun, where the to their perplexity discover that it costs checkout to get flown to their father’s corpse home. So they – or rather, Magnus decides instead to carry danger home in a tagbagageboks on their microscopic car.

This grotesque roadtrip is the simple, but highly effective premise behind the ‘Selvhenter’, which shows that a single good idea can carry a whole film through. As on top of the purchase can be made for a reasonable budget.

This requires of course that the performance is just as good as the starting point, and it is fortunately the case here.

The two mismatched brothers have a good chemistry, they meet some interesting people (primarily women or, rather, the summary of the flood) along the way, and although the story in many ways is highly unlikely, is still with you all the way.

movie Reviews – 29. mar. 2017 – at. 05:59 Yet another flat game from Casper Christensen and co.

In the course of the trip the needle, the hazard might be the maybe least equal to the load, and ‘Selvhenter’ often goes straight to the border – indecent dealings with the deceased is closest to the most banal – but behind the black facade of the banks there is a genuine heart, which slowly peel away the cynical layer of.

So yes, you can make a funny, absurd and warm film, based in a ligrøveri. It is really very well done.
