Schubert’s chamber music and klavermusik has scored many brilliant interpreter of the old movement. Worse, it has been with the symphonies in which neither the likes of Nikolaus Harnoncourt or Marc Minkowski have succeeded particularly well. With his musical perspective on the symfoniformen and deep but also playful relation to the wienklassiska the style will, therefore, René Jacobs recording as something of a revelation.
