There are made great demands on the building, when the first superarena is to be built. The new arena must be both scalable and one of the best, so international circus performers, athletes and rock bands can lay the road past the cultural centre in Ørestaden, without the neighbors being disturbed.

It becomes a reality, when the Royal Arena scheduled to open in the beginning of next year. The new, multifunctional building meets a need for a big scene in the capital. It says Bent Frank, chairman of the board at Arena CPHX.

– The new arena ranks size, somewhere between the Park and the venue of the Forum. There has long been a need for a scene of this size, which can accommodate large concerts and sporting events, says Bent Frank.

Royal Arena The first sod was taken 2013, as a foundation stone with drawings and visions for the project was dug at the construction site. The building’s steel structure consists of stålspær, ranging over 100 feet. The rafters are seven feet high and the heaviest weighs 300 tonnes. The arena is designed to a top capacity of 15,000, but the scalable scenekonstruktion do, that there can be created a smaller arena with space for up to 3500 guests. The arena has an area of 35,000 m2.

But it is not all visitors who come to experience arenaens full capacity. The arena is scalable, and can therefore be revised downwards, so there is space for only 3500 visitors. It can, according to Bob Frank be necessary to adjust the size of the spectator capacity, as not all events that can attract a full hall.

– If an event can not fill the chamber up completely, there are mounted guards, which adjusts its size horizontally and vertically. For some sporting events it will also be necessary to adjust the number of seats. The bottom thirteen rows are mobile, if there is a need for additional space on the floor, explains Bob Frank.

even Though there will be time in the arena, when the crowd cheering during sports events, and music plays full throttle, when there is a concert, so do the neighbors in Ørestaden, not fear, that their everyday life is disturbed by the large cultural centre. It is an integral part of the building’s design, that the sound must be in arenaens premises, says Bent Frank.

– We do not build a stadium where the roof can be taken off, just like we know it from the Park. It will go out over the sound, because it is not possible to seal the building as much as we want, says Bent Frank.

When the building is finished, there is a lot of work in to create a scene with good acoustics. On the walls and in the ceiling will put the heating up as a part of the inner casing, and one of the gates to the stage will be equipped with a soundproofed locks. In this way, it becomes possible to enter the scene without disturbing the audience or the surroundings of the Royal Arena.

The new arena is located in Orestad South, and the team behind the building, expect that it’s going to boost the urban life in the area.

– It is going to provide a boost of visitors when there are large events in the arena. We expect that it will create a lot of traffic and trade in Ørestaden, which is going to benefit the district.

the Arena towering up as a nordic kollos between the area other construction sites and new houses, and it can be recognized from his nordic appearance.

– You would not find a similar building in other european countries such as Spain or Italy. It is, among other things arenaens facade with wood veneer of nordic wood that helps to create the scandinavian look, says Bent Frank.
