The Hamburg Spring Cathedral starts on Friday with new attractions. The 30-day folk festival on the Heiligengeistfeld is home to 250 shops this year, including roller coasters and a ghost train, as the Ministry of Economics and Innovation announced on Wednesday.
In addition to exciting rides and roller coasters, there are also attractions for the whole family, including the “Grand Carousel”. The two-story, 62-seat carousel is designed to pay homage to its historical predecessors. A curved staircase leads to the second floor, where the second half of the seating is located.
The Spring Dome opens its doors this year from March 24th to April 23rd, only on Good Friday do the carousels stop turning for a day.
The start of the new season is always something very special for the showmen. “The spirit of optimism after the long winter break is always great for all of us. We look forward to the colleagues, the visitors and the unique atmosphere in Hamburg. The Hamburger Dom is a home for us. There is no other folk festival like this,” says Sascha Belli, Chairman of the State Association of Ambulatory Trade and Showmen Hamburg, describing his expectations.
