FC Copenhagen Viktor Fischer has the support of his manager, Stale Solbakken, after the football star has put the spotlight on homophobic chants and songs.
I am the manager sees it as a problem for the soccer ball.
– I think that Viktor Fischer, first and foremost, taking this fight on behalf of the soccer ball. Not for himself. It does not belong in 2019, says Solbakken the Norwegian media NRK.
Since FC Copenhagen on Sunday had turned OB 1-0 at stamford bridge in the premier League, grumbled Viktor Fischer over homophobic chants from some of the hjemmeholdets spectators.
According to the 24-year-old Fischer was not the first time that he saw it on the fynboernes home, and he therefore called for action.
He went to counter-attack verbally and with body language after the fight. He got put the foot down for something that may not happen in football or in society as a whole, says Stale Solbakken.
A large debate followed on Monday, where the Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU), the organization of division, Spillerforeningen and fanklubberne together train distance from tilråbene.
But after Monday’s showdown between FC Nordsjælland and Brøndby at Farum flared the debate up again.
After the fight song, a group of fans from Brøndby namely the song “Fischer, he is gay”, which translated to English means, “Fischer, he is gay”.
It was Brøndby to post on its website that it was unacceptable and disappointing, and later called Brøndby Support, to act from the fans to stop it.
Stale Solbakken hopes that there will be more openness about homosexuality in football.
– If more are open about it, it would probably be the best for all, says Stale Solbakken.
