The old saying was folded out in full bloom on Saturday at the athletics-the song contest in Brimingham.

It was not any record that fell. It belonged to for 22 years: the moroccan løbefænomen Hicham El Guerrouj, who until Saturday was still the holder of five world records.
Now the total is reduced to four, after 19-year-old Tefera on the last 200 meters overtook his compatriot Yomif Kejelcha and shaved 14-hundredths of El Guerroujs time from 1997.

– I can’t believe it. I’m happy with the result, and it feels very special to have the world record, said Tefera.
