It’s better late than never. On June 16, the National Police Force detained the alleged perpetrator of sexual and physical abuse on a 20 year-old girl in Ventas de Zafarraya, Granada. This occurred two years ago on New Year’s Eve. These events took place in 2020 on Antonio Gala Street in the capital.

This Friday, the Almeria Provincial Police Station (National Police) announced his arrest and his imprisonment by order of Loja’s Investigating Court number 2.

The incident occurred at 07:30 AM on January 1, 2020. It happened as the young girl was about to enter her home’s portal in Nueva Andalucia. The victim was subject to a sexual assault, and she was severely beaten multiple times. She was taken to the Torrecardenas University Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she remained for five days before being transferred into the ward.

The Provincial Police Station of Almeria activated then the protocol against sexual assaults. This initiated the investigation to find, locate, and arrest the accused.

It was several days before investigators were able to locate the suspect. The witness who alerted 112 Andalucia Emergency to the attack said that the suspect was well-dressed and had dark hair and was approximately 1.75m tall.

The National Police initially described the data as generic and was waiting to view the images from the security cameras at the banks, hotels, and shops in the area.

The investigation was put on’standby’ following the explosion of pandemic. However, the defendant did not act again. According to the National Police Corps, the aggressor had been arrested for another act sexual abuse. DNA samples were also taken.

This was when the DNA samples were compared with the ones taken in Almeria on the New Year’s Eve sexual assault. They reactivated their search for the person.

The report also revealed a coincidence with an attack in Almeria’s capital. It also showed that another sexual assault was committed in Loja, Granada. The Civil Guard arrested him in this case.

The agents of the National Police of Almeria took immediate and urgent steps to locate the suspect. It was possible to locate the person under investigation in Ventas de Zafarraya, Granada. Agents from the Family and Women’s Care Unit of Almeria moved there to stop him.

After three days of intense searching, the defendant was finally located and taken into custody in a home occupied by many men.

The Investigating Court number 2 in Loja placed the detainee under arrest for two counts of consummated sexual attack and one of serious injuries. He was then ordered to enter prison.

It’s worth noting that the mother of the young woman told Telecinco that after the events, her daughter said to her that she had “opened the portal” and that she saw that the attackers had pushed her from behind. He said that he hit her repeatedly and tried to abuse her, but was able to stop her from falling to the ground. The attacker then fled.

She claimed that the attack lasted half an hour because it started at “half past seven” and ended at “twenty eight”. She beat her non-stop for half an hour until she fell unconscious. Her mother concluded that her intention was to rape her and kill her.
