Middelkerke This week worked inhabitants and traders of Westende-Bad, a big investigation of the issues and possible solutions for the environment. The results of which were during a large this film shades suggested. There was a wide-ranging investigation ordered by the province and the Flemish government in cooperation with the municipal authorities. Offices Custom-Designers, Endeavour, Anno Architects, and Destiny went in search of solutions to some major problems that Westende-Bad characteristics. They were going to do this, collaboration with merchants and residents through workshops. And the list of obstacles seems endless. “Westende-Bad is like an island between Nieuwpoort, Westende-Village, Middelkerke, belgium and the polders”, was the analysis of the research. “You will find lots of other examples of handsome architecture, but only fragmentary,” says architect Frédéric Rasier of Custom-Designers. There were problems cited as vacant or small commercial premises, and a low standard of living. “Some of the studios are less than 18 square meters large”, took out the researchers. They denounce also the streets full of concatenated garageboxe and erfgoedpanden displaced between high-rise apartment buildings.
“Cluttering”
a word that regularly fell: ‘cluttering’. “Many of the streets are characterized by medium-height walls and planters, steps and sills, historic buildings often have a little quality development and terrace.” Also the Badenlaan, as major access road to Westende-Bad leads, doesn’t look cozy. And hall Cenacle, where many clubs come together, it deserves a refresher.
