festival-goers on four of Denmark’s biggest festivals will in the future enjoy their cold drinks from glasses made of recyclable plastic.

Festivals, NorthSide, Roskilde Festival, Tinderbox and Green have each year hit over two million engangsplastkrus over-the-counter, but it must now be changed.

The old glass of engangsplast will be at this year’s festivals replaced by reusable plastic glasses, which is developed by Tuborg in cooperation with the four festivals.

Tuborg has gotten advice from the environmental organization Plastic Change in order to find the right solution.

the Solution involves, among other things, that Tuborg makes a mobile dishwasher available, visiting the four festivals.

the Dishwasher will be 13,4 metres long and can wash over 9000 genbrugsplastglas in an hour.

the Glasses are thus washed on the spot, and when they get worn, they are sent back to the supplier, which ensure that the material is being recycled.

The reusable plastic glasses are produced in Herning, denmark, by Kifa Plastic.

Plastic Change, working to create more awareness on the consequences of plastic waste, calling the project ‘an important victory in the fight against unnecessary engangsplastic’.

– this is The first time that the four festivals are working together, and they should be commended for, along with Tuborg to make an effort to break the curve of the plastic waste, ” says Henrik Beha, founder of Plastic Change, in the press release.

He expects that the initiative will inspire others to go the same way.

environment minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen (V) see good prospects in the operation.

– This is the type of cooperation that we need if we are to seriously do something about our re-use and recycling. We must, because we can’t continue to consume plastic, as we do today, he says, in connection with the launch.
