Sint-Niklaas Sint-Niklase city council take the first step to the redevelopment of the Market square. It enables the Flemish government Architect to be a designer for this ambitious assignment. Goal is to get the 24.000 m2 large area around the Large Market and the 16,000 m2 large courtyard, a new interpretation. The city has a construction budget of 8 million euro is ready.
In 2005, the main Market square of Sint-Niklaas, completely renewed, with the construction of an underground parking garage and the interior of the large-scale events. Yet, for many St. Niklazenaren the amenities of the current Major Market is not optimal. Along the edges of the Large Market there is, moreover, especially traffic infrastructure, with little amenity value.
