There is a saying that if a restaurant or bar is always full, and it is hard to get a seat at a table it is because the food is good. This happens when they treat their customers well, are friendly and offer great food. Los Amici is an Italian restaurant in the heart of Granada that serves homemade dishes and makes friends quickly.
The place is small and has only a few tables. It is therefore advisable to book a table. Their food is made fresh every day, so if you’re late arriving you might not be able to get a particular pasta or one their dumplings. This is why this pizzeria has been so successful for over a decade.
Maria Rossi is seated in front of her, along with her husband Guillermo Mahr. She is responsible for serving guests and Guillermo Mahr is responsible for preparing the delicious food. Both are Argentineans who have dedicated their lives to the hospitality business, making it much easier to get back to work in 2011. Maria recalls that her husband and two of his friends started the restaurant. However, each person took their own path so Maria kept it together.
They lived in Nerja until then, but they made the decision to move to Granada, “a beautiful and vibrant city.” They chose the Alhambra because the Alhambra has more seasons and a stable income than the coast. The summer months are shorter here. “Everything went smoothly from the beginning. It was easy because we were always ourselves, and that makes it very welcoming.”
He explains about the restaurant that it is “super familiar” and small. Because people return to the restaurant time and again, they become friends. They are successful not only for their food but also because of the way they treat them: “It’s a family atmosphere and they feel like our family.” It’s really a wonderful thing. He admits that they have considered expanding the business to expand it and moving to bigger premises on several occasions. They always abandon the idea. This is our home. It’s like our living room. We can do whatever we like and Los Amici are free to be as creative as we wish.
Los Amici’s authentic, homemade Italian food is what makes them special. Every ingredient is of the finest quality which makes any dish a special treat. Maria Rossi says that “everything you could ask for is delicious.” She also explains how truffle panzerotti and sorrentinos are two of her most popular dishes. He recommends that people not only look at the traditional pizzas but also let their minds be blown away by the unique ones. We also offer homemade cakes and Argentine doughlings. The best part is the limoncello.
