The PSOE Churriana De la Vega has condemned in a statement Sunday the “possible acquisition” of a councilor from their bench who abstained at the vote of mayor of the town in investiture plenary session. Antonio Narvaez was elected as the candidate for the PP after adding 10 votes to the 17 votes cast by the councillors.

According to the socialist formation, “despite the popular mayor having been elected with Citizens’ votes, the PSOE is going to demand responsibilities of its councilor Juan Antonio Yeguas Lopez for abstaining from fulfilling his obligations and commitments with the Socialist Party. He will be asked to deliver his act as councilman and initiate the appropriate investigation to determine if there was a purchase of wills made by the PP>>.

The PSOE regrets the moral damage done to citizens by the possible “purchase” of a councilor to abstain. According to the formation, “with this maneuver, the will of voters and elected councilors in our cities are being manipulated and twisted. It crosses all the’redlines’ of democracy.”

According to the statement, the abstention by the socialist councilor, which was not traceable since the investiture vote allowed the PP (8 councilors), to win the government in the face a possible agreement with the PSOE (6-1 blank), Ciudadanos (2), and Adelante (1) by governing the most voted lists in the event of a tie.

They also assure that the PSOE said that on Saturday night, just hours before the investiture plenary, the “PP and Citizens” reached an agreement to invest the popular mayor. “It just so happens that one the Ciudadanos councilors was a militant and councilor for the PP in government until March 2019. He resigned, denouncing serious irregularities, and to revitalize municipal politics, which has kept tension and uncertainty. The PSOE of Churriana De la Vega says that he was present until the hours before the investiture.
