Quest transport, urgent emissions reductions required, inter alia, renewable fuels and zero-emission vehicles.Fair 25 years from Finland, you see only zero emission cars, if the group representation is realized. Antti Mainland

Transport greenhouse emissions removal year of 2045 requires strict measures, but not impossible.

the Issue occurs in the final report, which the ministry of transport and communications set by the climate group handed over on Wednesday the minister for transport and communications Anne Berner (centre).

– Traffic emission reduction action must be taken immediately, but at the same time there has to be a long-term view of creation. Must be prompt, but not hasty, the report stated in the introduction.

the final report presented the operational programme requires three broader objective. According to them, vehicle-km growth need to fold by the year 2025, the transport of relapse significantly and liquid biofuels will increase significantly from current levels.

Biobensaa and -diesel

according to the Report, the concrete aim is that by 2030 liquid biofuels share in road transport in Finland has 30%, after which the absolute number is no longer increasing. Also domestically produced biogas use levels will increase.

This also means the means of transport faster regeneration: when the current will be a few percent of the vehicle stock is zero – and low emission vehicles, should their share be of one hundred per cent in 2045.

Thus, in Finland would be about two million electric cars and about 250 000 gas car in the year 2045. Working group presentation according to the fossil transport fuels would be banned altogether in the same year.

the Quest is not only one of its kind in Europe. Norway, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Denmark are pursuing a combustion engine car sales ban on already by 2030. In finland, too, the new petrol and diesel car sales aims to stop according to the report, 17 years.

Tolls and taxes

in Practice, the movement control of the environment also means that especially in urban areas, public transport, shared rides, walking and cycling share will increase. These means of mobility share is expected to even double in just over 25 years.

This guiding measures, the working group proposed, inter alia, the absence of parking pricing, commute kuluvähennyksen and new mobility services taxation practice. Urban areas will also enable the tax nature of tolls.

Also, the fuel tax should be raised gradually, as the working group it control, especially the new vehicle purchase decision. Tax revenue can be used for low-emissions transport for the support of, i.e., for example, low-emission car purchase support.

all of the old cars owners should not of course be expected to be able to a new car acquisition, the report points out. Low-income households to rising fuel costs could be offset, say, income tax changing.

a High-ranking working group

Finland is committed to reducing transport emissions by 50% from 2005 levels by 2030. Also the EU legislation the amount of total emission reduction.

the working Group prepared a report from April. The members mainly leaders, inter alia, several ministries, the Finnish meteorological institute, Finnish Transport safety agency Trafi, the Finnish transport agency as well as corporate and university world.
