The Erfurt theater was apparently shot at with fireworks on New Year’s Eve. More than 50 impacts were found in the safety glass of the glass facade, the Erfurt State Police Inspectorate announced on Friday in the Thuringian state capital. The resulting property damage is estimated at around 50,000 euros.

On New Year’s Eve, numerous people greeted the new year on the theater forecourt. The police are now investigating suspected damage to property and are checking whether people may have intentionally caused the impacts in the glass, it said. To clarify this question, witnesses who were in the vicinity of the theater on the night in question are being sought.
