A sea of plastic, from films and bags, in the middle of Munich. The Director Doris Dörrie want to make it to the garbage in the oceans, from this Monday, she calls for the plastic at the Academy of Film and television make – at least soft plastic that can be easily processed.
SZ: Ms. Dörries, why collect old plastic?
Doris Dörrie: Because I want to show that we all consume too much plastic. I see it in my own packaging in the yellow bag – it is becoming more and more. And it is getting harder and harder to reduce this waste. I am in many supermarkets, therefore, is quite unpopular.
Why?
Because I leave the garbage there. I grab the vegetables and the fruit directly and say: “This trash, I can’t take.” The cashier is happy, the not necessarily, but if I see that there are now even organic Vegetables is shrink-wrapped in plastic, I could burst with rage.
you can go but still in the supermarkets – as a Protest?
I’m also on markets, but I think it’s important that in the large shops, something changed and it shows them that it can’t go on like this. A few years ago, I was often alone. Now you can attract people easier.
What do you think is the?
The attention of the people is always selective, for one thing. And it is the plastic in the oceans – even if there were other, more urgent points, for example, global warming.
The pictures of the plastic in the sea seem to touch the people.
The are also very haunting images. The Mediterranean sea was for us Germans, always a place of longing – of the people who live there, know the brutality of the sea, but from a distance it transfigured the water. Probably caught these images so very much. The littering of the oceans is actually just the most visible sign that we all consume too much plastic.
you have selected as the image for your Installation of the sea.
I want to show this symbolically, the sea of Plastic, we are all of us. And the plastic is ultimately just a metaphor for our insane waste.
How has it changed your relationship with the plastic?
I’m still in a pre-plastic time growing up, at least we had to be home relatively little. It bottles was the case, for example, no mineral water in plastic that came out of the faucet and you’re done. I had a Lego hardly any toys made of plastic. It was only when I went out with 18 years ago to study in the United States, I got really in touch with it. Everything was suddenly wrapped in “plastic wrap”, i.e. in plastic wrap. I astray found. It took a long time to get Packed, even in Germany so much. The plasticization of the world went fast.
Have you watched also on your many trips?
In Fukushima, I also got a plastic bag if I only bought an already-Packed, small eraser. This is a automatism, whether in China or in Mexico. In Spain, I stood in front of the greenhouses, in which ripe tomatoes – and in which everything with plastic coated.
On a film set will likely also consumes a lot of plastic.
The digitization has helped. Previously, each film was sealed roll still in plastic, today you need. I am also working in small Teams, which makes it easier – and the water there is still only from the tap.
Old plastic can of 1. April, to Friday, 5. April, from 9 to 18 o’clock on the Information of the HFF at Bernd-Eichinger-Platz 1 be given. 10. April at 17.30 starts the Crocheting of the plastic sea in front of the school. The opening “sea of plastic” starts at 10. July at 17: 30.
