The 34th International Festival of Music and Dance “Ciudad de Ubeda” is coming to an end. In its seventh and penultimate weeks, it offers a musical journey through the past, some decades ago by the hand of Dynamic Duo, a benchmark that has been followed by many generations. The concert will be held in the bullring at ten o’clock at night. It is yet another example of Ubetense’s interest in providing a platform for popular music to reach wider audiences.
The Dynamic Duo will be visiting Ubeda as part the 2019 tour to commemorate its 60th anniversary. However, the pandemic cut short their celebrations, but later confinement would bring them back to the forefront thanks to their song “Resistire”. Manuel de la Calva & Ramon Arcusa, will be celebrating their 63-year anniversary on these hills. They’ll also review all their achievements, which are numerous.
This recital is part the ‘Soundtrack Festival’ cycle. It’s a section of Music and Dance Festival that pokes fun at film music. Not to be forgotten, Manolo, Ramon, and other pioneers of Spanish pop, were also record producers, singers, and authors.
This duo, which is the most well-known in Spanish music, has a long career that has seen them achieve great success. It has made Manuel de la Calva (left) and Ramon Arcusa (right) legends in pop music. They were a fan favorite in the 1960s and received a Grammy of Honor. They will be joined by their regular musicians for this extension of their 60th Anniversary tour. It promises to be an unforgettable night that will evoke fond memories.
Other interesting ideas will be presented during the Ubeda Festival’s new week. Tomorrow’s concert will feature Calio Alonso, on piano, and Alexis Morales, on trumpet. It is part of the Music and Heritage’ cycle, which runs through various historic spaces in the town. The program will also include ‘Seven Popularly Inspired Costa Rican Songs’, which mirrors the acclaimed composer Marvin Camacho’s ‘Seven Popular Spanish Songs’. It will begin at 9 p.m. at Palacio Anguis Medinilla.
On Sunday, June 26, Alexis Morales (also Costa Rican) will once again offer master classes to students who are interested in learning how to play the trumpet at different Andalusia higher conservatories. A festival activity.
