U.S. President Donald Trump refused to participate in the scheduled hearing on impeachment next Wednesday. This is the White house said in a letter to the Chairman of the judiciary Committee of the house of representatives on Sunday.

The White house has stated that it will send a legal representative to the hearings on Wednesday. The democratic Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler had invited Trump to the consultation, which deals with the constitutional basis of impeachment proceedings against the U.S. President.

Explicitly

trump invited a legal Advisor, Pat Cipollone, wrote in the Reuters news Agency, this letter to Nadler that Trumps Team “can not be expected to participate in a hearing, if witnesses are not named, and it is still unclear whether the justice will allow for the Committee to the President through further hearings with a fair trial.”

The judiciary Committee of the house of representatives sat for the 4. December its first hearing in the context of its examination of the impeachment proceedings against the U.S. President. Nadler invited to explicitly Trump, attend the session or be represented by a lawyer.

Cipollone said in the Letter that the White house will respond to inviting me to a second hearing in accordance with the deadline to Friday.

Potential abuse of power

the Democrats led the house of representatives is currently leading an investigation for impeachment proceedings against Trump. The Democrats accuse the President of abuse of office, because he had demanded that Ukraine investigation against the former Vice President and democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. As a means of pressure the President is said to have used, among other things, a military aid of nearly $ 400 million to Kiev, the week-long back was held.

On Wednesday the second part of the hearings of the inquiry to the Ukraine affair begins. In front of the judiciary Committee of the house of representatives, it shall be examined whether and which charges should be formulated in an impeachment proceedings against Trump. The plenary of the house of representatives should then for a prosecution – the so-called Impeachment vote would be conducted the subsequent proceedings in the Senate.

There Trumps the Republicans have the majority. Because the Republicans hold largely to the President, it is considered highly unlikely that it comes to an impeachment. (roy/sda)
