– The last two months have been challenging for my family, and therefore it is in my family’s best interest that I resign, ” says Nauert in a statement.
Nauert was nominated by president Donald Trump, who praised her when he announced her candidacy: the President said she has been “a supporter a long time – really brilliant”. Critics have been skeptical of her lack of foreign policy experience before she was spokeswoman for the state department two years ago.
48-year-old came to the ministry from his job as a news anchor for Fox News. To reporters Trump described Nauert as “very talented” and “very smart”. Before she started at Fox News, she worked two years in the ABC News.
Nauert evoked responses when she pulled up the D-day – the allied landing in nazi-occupied France in 1944 – in a comment about the “strong relationship” between the united STATES and Germany.
