Out in the middle of nowhere is Halfdan B-platform, which is part of the Maersk Oils latest field in the North sea. Maersk Oil started in 1972, but the Halfdan field was first discovered a few years later, and from 1999 began to produce oil and gas from this particular field.
Maersk Oil has a total of 50 platforms, of which six are inhabited. On the Halfdan B-platform, there is space for 80 musicians, mostly working offshore two weeks at a time, after which they are at home in three weeks.
Maersk Oil has worldwide, 700 employees on the various platforms around the world, but the vast majority of working offshore in the North sea.
