After being taken over by billionaire Elon Musk, Twitter no longer takes action against false information about the corona virus. The corresponding measures were already stopped on Wednesday last week, according to a message on a Twitter website.
The online service had established rules in 2020 to stop the spread of false and misleading information about the virus and vaccines. At the time, Twitter pointed to the danger for people who use unscientific treatment methods or who could do without vaccinations.
Overall, more than 100,000 posts have been removed and over 11,000 accounts banned for violating the rules, according to earlier reports. The procedure was criticized above all from the right-wing political camp in the USA.
Musk himself downplayed the 2020 pandemic. He was also a critic of the lockdowns, which at times also stopped production at the main plant of his electric car manufacturer Tesla. According to his own statements, the 51-year-old had twice a Covid disease. He’s in the process of recovering banned accounts from Twitter in a big way.
