A World Cup competition in the downhill at Val Gardena in Italy was Saturday overshadowed by a nasty accident.

The swiss skier Marc Gisin lost control and crashed it on the way down the saslong cableway-piste.

He landed hard on the side and back, and he was lying on the ground without moving.

A rescue helicopter retrieved the 30-year-old Gisin, and flew him to the hospital, after he had received the treatment in almost half an hour.
