Ghent Upgrade Estate, the market leader in student housing, is building the R4 in Ghent, a new residential tower for students. That is, with its 60-meter immediately the tallest student tower in Flanders. Come – except students – also coaches live, some even with their family. The office Archipl Architects signed for the Upgrade Estate is a stately tower, with a facade with a 3D effect, with inside rooms for 311 students and 41 common areas. In addition, a ‘studiecafé on the top floor, with a panoramic view of the city, where students together ‘blocks’; but also kitchens, chillrooms, a fitness room and even a gameroom with virutal reality.

The inhabitants are divided into ‘micro-communities’, to use a homely atmosphere to create. Each small community will have its own kitchen and sitting area. Employees with a social education between the students live, sometimes even with their family, and act as Upkot-coaches’.
