Wevelgem At the new cemetery along the Moorselestraat in Wevelgem are certainly 35 tombstones damaged. The particular commemorative plates, flower pots and photos of the deceased that were broken. “We take this very seriously,” says mayor Jan Seynhaeve (CD&V). The police has started an investigation.
“We received Monday a report that several tombstones on the new cemetery vandalized were,” says mayor Jan Seynhaeve. Most of the broken gravestones are located on the lawn on the water, a part of the broken tombstones ended up in the pond.
