Deinze ‘Vetsmelter’ Jan Verkest from Grammene in Deinze this weekend the 59-year-old died in Switzerland, where he for two years lived together with his wife.
Son and father, Jan and Lucien Verkest were years ago together with two Walloon vetsmelters convicted, and had 24 million euros in damages to pay for the dioxin crisis of 1999. In september last year it became known that they appeal went against this decision. That process had to be this year, but one of the defendants is, therefore, not more.
