Tragedy Strikes as Vice President of Malawi and Nine Others Perish in Plane Crash

Saulos Chilima, the vice president of Malawi, along with nine others on board a military aircraft, lost their lives in a tragic plane crash. President Chakwera made the heartbreaking announcement in a televised address, revealing that the rescue team had discovered the plane near a hill, completely destroyed with no survivors.

The aircraft had been missing for a day before being located. It took off from Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi in Southeast Africa, on Monday morning and was supposed to land in Mzuzu, approximately 370 kilometers to the north, 45 minutes later.

Air traffic control instructed the plane, carrying 51-year-old Vice President Saulos Chilima, to turn back due to adverse weather conditions. Shortly after, the aircraft disappeared from radar.

Chilima, who was considered a potential candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, had faced allegations of corruption in 2022. However, the charges were dropped last month, and he had consistently denied the accusations.
