Bordeaux and Annecy in the same boat. The two clubs are moving forward with the same objective that the match between the Girondins and Rodez be replayed. After a jostling of a Rodez player by a Bordeaux supporter after the opener from Ruthenian in Bordeaux last Friday, the match ended at 1-0 in favor of the visitors. A situation which caused the relegation of Annecy and prevented Bordeaux from believing in its chances of rising in Ligue 1.
FC Annecy continues its spades concerning Rodez, after accusing them of “cheating”. “The RAF chairman and coach alternately claimed player Lucas Buades was in hospital with a concussion. This is false, dropped the Annecy club. Player Lucas Buades did not go out on a stretcher and never went to hospital. He did not suffer a concussion and returned by bus with the other players. The words of the Deputy Public Prosecutor, Mr. Olivier Etienne, confirm this version. can we read in the press release from the Haut-Savoyard club. Annecy therefore accuses Rodez of having tried to take advantage of the situation to “cheat” and then be able to stay in Ligue 2.
But that’s not all. The club chaired by Sébastien Faraglia is not going to stop there and says it is ready to file a complaint for “fraud” if the Ruthenian club is declared the winner on the green carpet, citing the financial consequences of such a decision.
“In accordance with sports regulations and common law, we therefore reserve the right, if necessary, to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor, for criminal acts of sports corruption and fraud that may lead to a prison sentence of five years and a fine of five hundred thousand euros, a sum which may be increased to double the proceeds of the offense, continued the Annecy club. Any player in football obviously cannot ignore the financial consequences of relegation for a football club.
The decision of the LFP will have serious consequences since the survival or not of three clubs depends on the Professional Football League. Annecy need a draw or a defeat for Rodez to stay in Ligue 2, so they need the match in question to be replayed. For Rodez a victory on green carpet or a victory (if the match takes place again) allows the Ruthénois to stay in Ligue 2 and sends Annecy to National. Finally, Bordeaux still hopes to play its match against Rodez to believe in its chances of rising in Ligue 1 which seem tiny, since it would take a victory by five goals for the Girondins to reach the elite.
