European Union The ‘Spitzenkandidaten’ of six European political families have tonight, a lively debate was held about the direction of the European Union in the next five years. A couple of sharp interventions laid the substantive differences repeatedly exposed. What struck me most, was that especially the German Manfred Weber as candidate-President of the European people’s Party (EPP) on little sympathy could count.
Especially when the theme climate broached got the Weber it is hard to endure. He, and the EPP agree that the EU 2050 climate neutral should be, but Weber warned for unaffordable measures and interventions on certain populations -such as the workers in the auto industry – hard would take.
